BATHROOM IDEAS FOR MAXIMIZING STORAGE

Do have a small bathroom? Do you struggle with trying to keep it tidy and organized due to a lack of storage space? In my last house, my bathroom was about 40 sq ft so to say it was “tight” would be an understatement. The only storage space was the bathroom vanity and cabinet under the tiny sink. I had to get very creative with storage. Fortunately, my current house has a larger bathroom with a little more storage but it still never seems adequate. As far as I’m concerned a bathroom can never have too much storage so I’m constantly on the lookout for clever ideas. Here are some of my favorite bathroom ideas for increasing storage and keeping things tidy.

Box It

I love the idea of storing all the bathroom essentials in bins or boxes. I personally use bins and find them very practical. Like things are kept together and easily accessible yet neat & organized. Take it one step further and create a bin for each member of the family. These are the covered bins that I use and they are perfect for storing items & keeping things neat.

Double Up

With every family member using their own towel hanging space to dry towels can be limited in a small bathroom. Mindful Decluttering & Organizing had the brilliant idea of adding an extra tension bar in the bath or shower to hang wet towels. Great for faster drying. Here’s a great double shower rod. And another here.

Shelve It

The Order Obsessed filled in a gap between the wall and the toilet with built-in shelves that hold extra towels and toilet paper. If you have the space adding extra bathroom shelves is a great way to increase storage space. In this picture below, 320 Sycamore added shelving over the toilet to add extra storage to their small bathroom and it looks great! The trick is to be sure to style them so they look pretty instead of cluttered.

Or if you’re looking for a more rustic look, check out these distressed wood and iron shelves from My Gift. All of these would be fairly easy to install.

And if you don’t want to bother installing anything at all this Home Style Over Commode Stand Shelf offers extra storage while also being attractive.

Hang A Cabinet

If you prefer things sight unseen and you have empty wall space hanging a cabinet is a good option. This bathroom storage cabinet by Shanty 2 Chic is brilliant and has a full-length mirror on the front of the door. If you’re handy you can get the free plans here or find this one already made and ready to hang here.

Liz Marie Blog made a cabinet out of an old weathered window and installed it over her toilet. I love the rustic look.

This Tangkula Bathroom Wall Cabinet would also work nicely.

Roll With It

If you have the floor space a rolling cart is a great option. This one is by Ikea.

Pocket It

Style Side Of Life stores bathroom items that are used every day in an over-the-door shoe organizer. You can find the same one here.
