How are you all doing during this surreal, stressful time? As we come to the end of week 2 of quarantine here in Canada I’m really starting to feel the isolation. Normally I’m quite comfortable with spending time alone but the uncertainty of not knowing how long we will have to keep this up is causing me stress. To help me get through these trying times, I’ve been spending a lot more time online searching for things to take my mind off the ugly that’s happening in the world right now. I find myself daydreaming of future travel destinations and home improvement projects to look forward to when the world turns right side up again. I need to know that things will be all right again and making lists of things to look forward to when it is, comforts me.
New Feature
As I’m sure I’m not the only one who could use some distraction and comfort at this time, I’ve decided to start a new feature here on C&P called “Swoon”. It will be a weekly feature highlighting things that inspire me. Creating a beautiful and comfortable home and surroundings is always something that inspires me and I love searching for home decorating and interior design inspiration. Right now I’m having a major love affair with natural wood cabinets. Both natural wood kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities. Here are a few examples of what’s making me swoon today.
This kitchen by Designer Becki Owens is perfection. I love the black cabinet hardware against the natural wood.
Here’s another shot from a different angle.
This gorgeous kitchen by Studio McGee features a contrasting white island along with a butler’s pantry behind the range wall.
I’m loving this minimalist kitchen featured in Atlanta Homes Magazine and designed by Melanie Turner and Stan Benecki. It’s modern yet rustic.
This one by House of Jade Interiors features double islands offering lots of workspace. It’s so light and airy it would be a dream to work in.
I love the combo of this fabulous marble with the natural wood in this kitchen by Jake Arnold Interiors.
Natural wood cabinets are also showing up in bathrooms and I’m loving this one designed by Melanie Cherrier and featured in House & Home Magazine.
Here’s another example of natural wood cabinets in a bathroom from Jenna Sue Design Co. Again I’m loving the black cabinet hardware. It really contrasts beautifully against the natural wood.
Melissa Clement Designs did an amazing job designing this kitchen. I love that she kept it simple and didn’t use cabinet pulls. I also love the floor-to-ceiling wall of cabinets and the large island.
This kitchen was designed for Studio Ezra’s Director Georgia Ezra. I love the clean lines not to mention that stunning stone floor.
Here’s a closer look.
And here’s the same kitchen as seen from the living room.
But this kitchen has to be my favorite. I love the clean lines combined with the stone wall. French designer Marie Laure Helmkamf designed this kitchen for her personal home in France.
Here it is from another angle.
To me this kitchen is perfection. Are you a fan of natural wood cabinets? Now I can’t wait until we get through this quarantine period (and we will) so I can head off to my local home improvement stores.

Would you mind suggesting some colors of the stain on the white oak cabinets that you used in the above photos. They are gorgeous!
Hi Terri! I believe they mostly used a clear matte stain but to be sure you could check the original posts which are linked in the blog post. Good luck!
Karen
These are all so lovely! We’re planning a kitchen renovation using as much of our existing kitchen as we can – I’m looking forward to ripping 90’s trim off cabinet doors and refinishing them and flipping them on their sides to become drawers, topped with white quartz countertops. The wood cabinets in this post are swoon-worthy and great inspiration!
Thanks Kimberly! I love that idea of flipping the cabinets on their side. I hope you share pics when you’re done. Good luck with your kitchen reno!
Hi Karen, I am loving the Natural wood cabinets! I am remodeling my kitchen and looking at doing a natural wood island. Do you suggest white oak? What stain do you suggest?
After being bombarded by white cabinets, (remodeled my kitchen 2 years ago with white cabinets), these natural wood cabinets are refreshing. I decided to do my new mountain cabin in the “scandi” look with all light natural wood cabinets. Thanks for the ideas!! Although mountain builders are difficult to envision something other than RUSTIC and dark wood, I am trying!!
Hi Kathy! I think Scandi in a cabin would be great! Good luck with your remodel!
Can you tell me what kind of wood is in the picture above? With the kitchen with just drawers? Has Quarts Co inter that goes up the wall. I like the darker natural wood! Thank you.
I am in love with these images! The natural wood cabinets go together so nicely with the black handles and the decor. I just got my kitchen cabinets painted white and they did a great job. But after looking at these pictures, I wish I would have kept my kitchen island with the natural wood!
