I’m making plans to freshen up the decor in my bedroom. One of the things I know I want to change is my bed or headboard. I’m open to any shape, color, or fabric but the one thing I know is that it needs to be upholstered. I like to read in bed and that means I need comfort. But it’s about more than just comfort. I want the headboard to serve as a focal point in the room. Upholstered headboards can add a hit of color and texture to an otherwise neutral color scheme. Here are a few examples I’m swooning over right now.
Feminine Glam!
This tufted headboard upholstered in purple velvet is a striking hit of color in this feminine and glam room designed by Robin Pelissier.
Jamie Herzlinger chose to cover this wingback headboard in a satin brocade fabric for a very glam feel.
Go High!
I like the way designer Morgan Wilson took the upholstered headboard right to the ceiling in this bedroom. It creates a strong focal point.
Here’s another tall bed that makes a real statement. This one by Denise Morrison Interiors proves that four-posters can look great with upholstered headboards too.
Twinning!
Twin beds deserve the full treatment too! I love the way the Bryan Olson Design Group used this one lux gold velvet headboard to anchor the twin beds.
Kate Taylor Interior Design also used one headboard for two twin beds.
Caitlin Moran Interiors gave this twin bed the full upholstered treatment. I love the turquoise color and the way she mirrored it in the bed skirt and blind.
Here’s another twin bed from Interior Concepts Design House that got the upholstered treatment.
I love how Annsley Interiors wrapped the headboard around the corner of these beds. These beds would be comfy to curl up in and read.
Channeling!
This room by Denise Morrison Interiors features an upholstered headboard in a deep moody blue fabric with horizontal channeling.
Baudit Interior Design in Toronto chose to take this gorgeous blue headboard outside the perimeters of the bed to include the side tables. The large scale along with the vertical channelling makes it a real statement piece.
This teal velvet bed with vertical channelling gives this room by Lux Pad Interiors a real art-deco feel.
Chandos Interiors kept it simple with this teal velvet upholstered headboard.
English Country!
The padded headboard & fabric walls in this room by Tucker & Marks give it a very cozy feel.
Boho
I love the way Katie Leede & Company inserted a patterned fabric in the middle of this padded headboard for a hit of color and interest.
Pretty In Pink!
I love the contrast of this pink studded headboard against the pink wallpaper in this room by Jessica Buckley in the UK.
Here’s another pretty pink one by Caitlin Moran Interiors.
Build It In!
I love how Janey Butler Interiors built this padded headboard right into the wood to make it flush with the wall.
Go With The Flow!
In another room by Janey Butler Interiors, this upholstered headboard is curved to match the lines in the ceiling.
I’ve been having a lot of fun checking out all the different designs for upholstered headboards. Now comes the hard task of deciding what I want for my room. Do you have a favorite one?
