A while back I posted about how I’m trying to make some positive changes in my life this year. Today I thought I’d share some more tips that I’m finding useful for helping me achieve my goals and that will help you improve your life, whatever your circumstances.
1. STOP COMPLAINING AND APPRECIATE HOW LUCKY YOU ARE EVERY DAY
Adopt an attitude of gratitude! Be grateful for everything in your life including the not-so-positive. Appreciate everything that you have now. Stop obsessing about all the things you don’t have or think you want or need in order for your life to be better. Instead, count your blessings and appreciate all the things you do have. When your heart is truly full of gratitude it’s hard to feel down.
2. SAY GOODBYE TO PEOPLE THAT DON’T BRING POSITIVE ENERGY INTO YOUR LIFE
Ditch negativity! You are who you surround yourself with! Don’t let negative people bring you down. Surround yourself with positive people who support you and your choices in life.
3. EMBRACE LONELINESS AND REINVENT YOURSELF IN THE PROCESS
It’s okay to be alone! It’s how we get to know ourselves. Use the time for some thoughtful introspection and to reflect on the kind of person you want to be. Once you’ve figured that out you can start on the path to becoming that person.
4. THROW OFF THE TV AND SET INTERNET CONTROLS
You’ve heard of the phrase FOMO or fear of missing out? Guess what? It’s real! Through TV shows and social media, we’re constantly bombarded with images of people who seem to have it all. “Seem to” being the key term! Instagram and Facebook are full of influencers (or wannabes) flaunting their so-called charmed lives. But no one’s life is perfect. Even that attractive social media influencer sporting the latest Chanel bag in front of the Eiffel Tower in her Insta pic has real-life problems. So get real! Limit TV and internet time and get out and do things and interact with real people more. Choose to actively live your life instead of envying others.
5. PICK ONE SKILL YOU WANT TO CULTIVATE AND PUT ALL YOUR EFFORT INTO DEVELOPING IT
Keep learning! You’ve heard the saying if you don’t use it, you lose it. So use it! Whether it’s developing your public speaking skills, learning how to sew, or studying a new language, learning helps us grow and keeps our minds sharp. And a year from now you’ll have a new skill and you’ll feel proud of yourself and your accomplishments.
6. SWEAT EVERY DAY TO BOOST YOUR MOOD
Pump those endorphins! Exercise is not only good for your body but it’s also great for your mental health. Among other things, it helps to alleviate stress and improves sleep. Even moderate exercise can help you feel more relaxed and have a greater sense of well-being which can contribute to a more positive outlook on life.
7. FAIL FORWARD. LEARN FROM EVERY MISTAKE YOU MAKE
Don’t be afraid of failure! The more failures you have the more you learn. Many successful entrepreneurs say they’ve had more failures than successes and they wouldn’t be where they are today without the lessons they learned along the way. The reason they’ve finally “made it” is because they’ve chosen to use their mistakes as lessons learned going forward.
8. COMMIT TO THE GOALS YOU SET AND NEVER LOOK BACK
Stick it out! Endurance is an essential quality in achieving most kinds of success. So when you hit those roadblocks or the going gets tough, dig your heels in and keep moving forward. If you stick at something long enough, sooner or later you’re most likely to succeed.
I hope there was something here that you can take away to make some positive changes and improve your life. If you have any other tips I’d love to hear about them in the comments below.

I love these tips! I also think it’s important to go to bed early and rest your body and mind! I’m a completely different person if I’m sleep deprived haha.
Oh yes! Good point! I completely agree! I can’t function without a good night’s sleep either.
